The installation requirements listed above describe the typical approach for complying with the Department of Public Utilities Rule and Regulation 23-02 for the type of service line indicated, the site use of the property, and known cross-connections to non-potable systems. Changes to any of these factors could result in changes to the requirements. In some cases there may be other configurations that also comply with R&R 23-02. A qualified contractor or engineer may be able to help you determine if there are other options.
Installation of backflow prevention assemblies must conform to the applicable Division of Water Standard Detail Drawings L-9002 B-G. Meter installation must conform to the applicable Drawings L-6317 A-E. Variations from standard details require pre-approval from the Backflow Compliance Office.
Installation of backflow prevention assemblies and pump low pressure sustaining devices must be inspected and approved by the Backflow Compliance Office. Please call 614-645-5781 and leave a voicemail to request an inspection. Please give your name, water service address (this is the address on your account, which may be different than the building address), phone number, time desired for the inspection, and what is to be inspected.
Failure to install and maintain backflow prevention assemblies and/or pump low pressure sustaining device required by our office may lead to us shutting off your water service. Please contact our office at 614-645-6674 if you have any questions.
